Never Ending Run

Once you wake, the sun not even up, you're already on the roads training your body to conquer the impossible. Eyes are barely even open yet, but legs moving like they've been awake for hours. Pounding on the asphalt, looking ahead, and envisioning the future career you've fabricated in your head. Imagining the race for the finish that puts you under four minutes and standing with a gold medal around your neck on that Olympic Podium you've always dreamed of. All the time this goes through your head, and you can't help but wonder if your future will be as promising as you always created it to be.

Still running, the sun comes up now and is beating down on your shoulders. Fatigue hits the body but you can't stop going. Speeding up and running through the wall that is holding you back and realizing the gift you've been given will get you somewhere, as long as you just keep training. Running for hours now, your body tells you to stop but your mind is saying keep on going. The goals sitting in the back of your mind drive you to not relent or give in, but to strive even harder towards what you want. Running becomes your drug and even though you physically shouldn't be able to withstand the amount of pressure you put on your legs, your mind tells you that you can handle more.

The sun dies down and your still out on the roads training, miles away from home realizing that you have just spent the day, on a beautiful never ending run. Some would call it a waste of a day but for you, it was the complete opposite. It was a day to use the gift God gave you. A day to envision your dreams as a runner. A day to relieve all of the mental stress off of your body. A day to run and see the glorious world the creator has made for us. A day, to spend doing the thing that you love to do.

It's completely after dark now and you're finally home, finished with what some would call the run of a lifetime. But to you, it was just another day doing the thing that you love to do, the thing that God gave you the ability to do. You get something to eat after your long day of running and get ready for bed. You lay your head down to sleep and your legs finally get the rest they deserve. Your legs aren't moving that night but as you dream, you picture your goals, and imagine yourself finishing with the final kick that nobody can beat. Physically you have stopped running, but mentally, you dream and experience a never ending run, knowing that once you wake up, you get to hit the roads once again.
